Damien Foundation Model Leprosy Control Unit in Rudrapura Village, in Dehri-on-Sone, in Rohtas district, was established in 1983 to provide training facilities to state and secondary level care referral services, for persons affected by leprosy. This project was handed over by us to the Government in 1999 as per the agreement.
In the year 2012, based on an internal survey, DFIT started tertiary level services for persons affected by leprosy and signed an MoU with Government of Bihar to establish referral services. This project has facilities to cater reconstructive surgeries, ulcer care and other medical services for persons affected by leprosy.
Activities
- Perform reconstructive surgery for eligible patients affected by leprosy.
- Management of ulcers & complications at the hospital.
- Support in supervision and monitoring of POD programme.
- Providing protective footwear and other needed appliances to persons with disability.
- Socio Economic Rehabilitation for eligible persons.
- Create community awareness on leprosy.
- Facilitate POD programme at the district level.
