Individuals

Damien Foundation India Trust depends entirely on the generosity of individuals and organisations. We work closely with our supporters to explain our organisational needs and to understand their individual needs as a donor. The desires of our donors vary, with some happy to contribute to running costs, whilst others wish to fund a capital expenditure. The way in which they become involved is entirely upto them also, with some building a personal relationship with us via a project visits and others happy with acknowledgement for their generous support.

In memory giving

Setting up a Memorial Fund can uphold the legacy of a loved one through their support for a cause they believed in. The fund might support / sponsor a person affected by Leprosy or Tuberculosis through Damien Foundation India Trust, or could be tailored to the personal passion of the donor, such as supporting deformity corrective surgery, education, livelihood, housing, foot wear for persons affected by leprosy.

Philanthrophy

Your major gift will help us secure better futures for persons affected by leprosy and tuberculosis for years to come.

A gift in your will

Leave a gift in your will to help secure better futures for less privileged persons affected by leprosy in India for years to come. Every gift in every will makes a difference. After you’ve looked after family and friends, please cnsider Damien Foundation. When making a will we truly recognise that those closest to you come first, but if there is any room for a legacy to Damien Foundation India Trust, please think about how your gift will bring a change in the lives of persons affected by leprosy or TB. It doesn’t matter how much you can give, even a small contribution can make a difference.

Types of gifts

Your gifts will be covered under the Indian Succession Act 1925. A Will is a legal declaration of the intention of the testator, with respect to his property which he desires to be carried into effect after his death. Residuary gifts are made from whatever is left over once gifts of money and specific items have been distributed. They are often a percentage of an estate e.g. you could leave 1% each to two charities and 98% to family. Pecuniary gifts are specified sums of money. If you have a will already, adding a gift to a charity is easily done through a codicil form. Please download this form and fill it out for filing with your Will. If you’re planning on writing your first Will, rest assured that it doesn’t have to be complex. For example instead of looking at items in your estate you can look at allocating percentages of your estate. It’s best to visit a lawyer, who can guide you through this process and ensure your wishes for your family and any charities are clearly stated. Dr. Shivakumar will be available 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday to Friday to answer any of your questions or concerns. You can contact him on info@damienfoundation.in to set up a call.
