Fulkumari, 21 years of age, is from Chotaharian village in Potka district of Jharkhand. She lives with her mother, sisters and brothers, the eldest of whom, is a driver and is taking care of the whole family in the absence of their father who had died several years back.
Her life turned for the worse 5 years ago when she noticed pale patches all over her body. She did not consult a doctor until her right foot became weak. She could not lift her foot and walking became extremely difficult. She consulted a local medical practitioner, spent thousands of rupees to no avail. Finally she was urged by a local health worker to go to the Government hospital at Potka where she was told that it was leprosy and treated with the right drugs. . Her disease was cured but her deformity in the right foot remained. When the team from Damien Foundation visited her village she came to their attention. She was advised to do some exercises and was assured she would be helped to undergo surgery for correction of her foot deformity.
Please donate to Fulkumari’s dream come true. She believes that her dreams of living the life of a young woman are soon going to be realised.
